Finally, an excuse to post this great song! Dutronc plays Paul Godard in Every Man for Himself...some years after this 1967 hit. If anyone is interested in a translation of the lyrics:
I know Courtney! Walking through the empty seats instead of on the stage. I love when he and the camera play hide and seek, as if behind a tree in a new wave version of a Bollywood trope...if only he were wearing a white sari and it started to rain! I heard this song once a few years ago in a place I wasn't supposed to be but ended up, and fell in love. I don't speak french and didn't know his name and found it through one of those amazing internet searches where you are a detective deducing and triangulating. Found this video after at least 20 minutes, and then last week saw him pounce on a woman in slow motion across a table, in a theater, 13 years after the "music video." It's an interesting world.
Too funny! He's such a stiff sapling wandering about those empty chairs.
ReplyDelete....that was by me, courtney.
